Because I could think about so much more places after finishing my Top 5 best bars, brunch & restaurants in Prague, here I am sharing with you another batch of tested and approved addresses in Prague. No more excuses not to go out! 🙂
– BARS –
Balbi Bar ($$)
Decorated in a dandy style, this bar is owned by French friendly guys. Cocktails are good and well presented. Try the (virgin) piña colada!
Address: Balbinova 27, Prague 2
Chill bar which name means “Barcelona night”, located in a quiet street. Go for a drink or some tapas. VERY nice homemade lemonades.
Address: Jana Masaryka 58, Prague 2
La Loca Music Bar & Restaurant ($$)
(not to be confused with “Loca Bar & Lounge”)
Cool place to have a glass of wine or dinner! Check their agenda, they plan events every week: karaoke or concert night, etc. I even went there for a stand-up comedy show called True Dating Stories.
Address: Odborů 4, Prague 2
La Bodeguita del Medio ($$)
Because latino places are always a safe bet (sí o sí?!), go to La Bodeguita to feel like in Havana. Caribbean cocktails (best mojito & punch), dancefloor, Cuban restaurant and even a cigar shop upstairs!
Address: Kaprova 5, Prague 1
Balcony Bar ($$$)
Nice small rooftop to go to. Specialised in wine, champagne and cocktails (even though a bit expensive). You can see the rooftop from the street; to access, enter the open door on the side and climb the stairs all the way up!
Address: Jungmannovo náměstí 17, Prague 1
Kavárna Lucerna ($$)
In an Art Nouveau style, the Café is located on the 1st floor of Lucerna Palác passage, next to Kino Lucerna (a beautiful old cinema). Try their caramel coffee or hot chocolate (the kind of thick ones), elected best in town by my boyfriend!
Addresses: Štěpánská 61, Prague 1 / Vodičkova 704, Prague 1
Mama Shelter ($$)
Not only a hotel and restaurant, Mama is also a bar/rooftop where to meet with your friends. Their concept is based on “reinventing conviviality”. A fun, friendly and creative place, urban inspired.
Address: Veletržní 20, Prague 7
AnonymouS Shrink’s Office ($$$)
There are two different Anonymous bars in Prague; I have tried the AnonymouS Shrink’s Office. Hidden and mysterious, the cocktail menu is made of paintings: first pick one and then taste your drink to discover what it actually is. (Psst! The gorilla picture is really good). Nice but expensive experience.
Address: Jungmannova 11, Prague 1
Café Bar Pilotů ($$)
Wine place in the cool Vršovice district. I had this “feel home” impression hard to describe when I pushed the door. Very cosy atmosphere and artistically decorated, spend some time there and also try their tapas.
Address: Donská 19, Prague 10
Beach Kayak Bar ($)
I love this place! You can literally do everything in summertime there: drink refreshing beers or lemonades, eat good burgers, play beach volley, rent kayaks and paddle boards, take yoga classes and even book sauna… Just go! 🙂
Address: Náplavka, Prague 2 (under Vyšehrad railway bridge = Železniční most)
Going to the Absintherie in Prague is an experience! Specialised in the green fairy, the place has more than 100 absinthe to offer and two addresses in the center. What’s charming is the artistic decoration, inspired by painters such as Van Gogh.
Addresses: Jilská 7, Prague 1 / U Radnice 8, Prague 1
Los v Oslu ($$)
Sick of Czech beers? This bar/restaurant is the right place to go if you want a Belgian beer. Elegant and comfortable, Los v Oslu is close to Jiřího z Poděbrad (called « JZP » by expats). And from the menu, I recommend the chocolate fondant #Yummy!
Address: Perunova 17, Praha 3
Joystick Bar ($)
Nostalgic for your teenage years, when you could spend all your pocket money in arcade games? At Joystick Bar it’s possible, plus now with a beer in your hand! Play flippers (pinball) and other machines for 10 CZK each and enjoy the urban atmosphere. YOU WIN!
Address: Jindřišská 5, Prague 1
– BRUNCH –
This vegetarian bistro is a friendly place to go for a brunch or even just for a glass (they have good wine and beers). The menu changes every 3 months (based on seasonal products) and prices are very affordable.
Address: Krymská 24, Prague 10
Café & Gramofon ($$)
This place is blue, cosy, well decorated; this place is SO cute! At Café & Gramofon you’ll be well received and eat well. I like that it is located in a different area and that I discovered it by surprise.
Address: Minská 4, Prague 10
Na Hlas ($$)
Nice place, where you can feel at home. I like their location near Kostel sv. Prokopa (Church of St. Prokop). Like most places in Prague, Na Hlas is also dog-friendly!
Address: Vlkova 7, Prague 3
Bistro Proti Proudu ($$)
This place was a good find: great food, nice waiters. Moreover, it is located in the cool Karlín neighbourhood! I tried the Hummus menu with a delicious chocolate cake, on their quiet terrace.
Address: Březinova 22, Prague 8
La Farma ($$$)
I’ve never tried La Farma myself but I passed through it every day and I’ve heard only good reviews. People especially recommended me to taste their pancakes… The chef only uses quality products from farmers.
Address: Čáslavská 5, Prague 3
Café Bike ($$)
Café Bike is a small place ideal for brunch or coffee. I have a special affection for this place, located in the street where I used to live (before I moved to Žižkov)! Have a break, sit on the terrace, enjoy your plate and the green view 😉
Address: Ruská 18, Prague 10
– RESTAURANTS –
Manifesto Market ($$$)
They turned urban wastelands into trendy and gastronomic spaces in the heart of Prague! Food trucks, cocktail and beer bars, music, et cætera. I love the Asian PokeHaus, Rolls Bros original ice creams and local beer from Vinohradský Pivovar.
Addresses: Na Florenci 23, Prague 1 (Florenc) / Náměstí 14. října 16, Prague 5 (Smíchov)
Crazy about waffles and crepes? You are at the right place! Whether sweet or salty, waffles are delicious just like the pancakes, milkshakes and fresh juices. Waf-Waf is very popular and I like their retro decoration.
Addresses: Milady Horákové 52, Praha 7 (Letná) / Bělehradská 67, Praha 2 (I. P. Pavlova)
Sharing the kitchen with the restaurant Pho Vietnam next to it, Cafefin has nice meals/snacks to offer. It is also a good place where to chill with your laptop in a welcoming atmosphere. Cafefin is also known for its poetic drawings on coffee foam!
Address: Náměstí Jiřího z Poděbrad 4, Prague 2
The Craft ($$$)
For a good gourmet burger made of local meat, go to The Craft. For a fresh beer delivered from local mini-breweries, go to The Craft. And for the combination of both, go to The Craft! Nicely decorated restaurant in a cool area (Náměstí Míru, Peace Square).
Address: Náměstí Míru 4, Prague 2
Las Adelitas ($$)
Since I discovered Mexican food was not necessarily spicy, I am crazy about it! I like everything at Las Adelitas: from the diverse food to the typical decoration, including mariachi musicians on weekend evenings. My favourites: guacamole (do-not-miss), tacos de nopales (vegetarian), parrilladas (if you are very hungry), and sopa azteca. And to drink: definitely mango or mint margarita, michelada (a mix of spicy tomato juice and beer – not everyone likes it) and guayaba (non-alcoholic option).
Addresses: Malé náměstí 13, Prague 1 / Petrská 23, Prague 1 / Americká 8, Prague 2 / Lucemburská 6, Prague 3
U Laury ($$)
Wanna taste Czech specialities and wine at an affordable price? U Laury is a good recommendation, especially in summer when you can enjoy the romantic patio. This historical restaurant is well located, near Kostel sv. Mikuláše (St. Nicolas Church).
Address: Nerudova 10, Prague1
Agave Restaurant ($$$)
Another great Mexican restaurant in Prague city center. I love their tacos with prawns, guacamole and the wide selection of drinks. If I had to compare, I would say that Agave Restaurant is great but less traditional and slightly more expensive than Las Adelitas.
Address: Masná 2, Prague 1
Café Terapie ($$)
This address is a nice stop near the Vltava river. Inspired by Greek and Italian cuisine, the menu has many options to offer. I recommend to taste the pasta (so good!), salads, homemade desserts, coffee. And their tiramisu is known as being the best in town!
Address: Na Hrobci 3, Prague 2
Owned by the same people as Marina Ristorante (see my article Top 5 restaurants in Prague), Gossetto is a very good Italian restaurant. Enjoy tasty pizza in a classy atmosphere! I only know the location in Náměstí Míru (Prague 2) but there are many.
Addresses: Francouzská 2, Prague 2 (Vinohrady) / Vyskočilova 2, Prague 4 (Brumlovka) / Jugoslávských partyzánů 8, Prague 6 (Dejvice) / Květnové náměstí 11 (Průhonice)
